Frequently asked questions
doesn’t burning plastic release toxins?
Pyrolysis is the process of thermally degrading in the abscense of oxygen. That’s like a fire without a fire. With no oxygen present, combustion cannot occur. We are not burning plastic in this process, instead, we are cracking or breaking plastic chemical chains into smaller forms.
don’t microwaves cause cancer?
Microwave radiation is non ionizing. In other words, all microwaves do is heat things up, no cell or DNA damage. The microwaves we use operate at the same frequency that WiFi does, 2.45ghz. On top of this, the microwaves are contained within the reactor and only exist when the power is on.
Is this process safe?
This process is thoroughly controlled. Every product is useful and captured. There are no emissions, there is no pollution, and this process is 100% carbon neutral.
won’t this put microplastics in the air?
No, this process breaks down plastic at a molecular level. For the fuel products to even exist, at that point they are no longer plastic, but rather the components of the basic chemical building blocks of crude oil.
